You may be wondering what is so 'unique' about Younique makeup and skincare products. Six months ago I was completely skeptical of the claim. I have tried and tested so many different makeup brands from drug store to high-end. I couldn't accept that Younique was really all that different. It is also sold using the Multi-level marketing strategy which I was immediately turned off by. I thought it was just another Mary Kay. However after trying, being amazed and falling in love with the products these last six months I can now reveal what makes Younique special and my favorite makeup line.
The first time I wore mascara I was eleven. My mother tried it on me as I blinked a thousand times scared of being struck in the eye with the black bushy wand. When I saw my reflection I loved it. Although I wasn't allowed to wear it all the time my new freedom to dress up my face got me really excited. It didn't seem long before I received my first shadows and tinted moisturizer and tinted lip balms. It got a girl excited I tell you.
Fast forward a few years to high school and my favorite makeup product was eyeliner, thick black heavy eyeliner. My Dad was a little worried but my Mum knew it was a phase. Being free to experiment with makeup gave me an opportunity to create the face I wanted people to see. I could be simple, flashy, shocking, pretty. I could create it and it was fun.
Fast forward several more years being a mother to two children, makeup played a different role in my life. It hid the blemishes, the occasional acne breakouts that I never seemed to outgrow, it covered the horrendous bags under my eyes from years of sleepless nights. It felt like makeup was essential g normal each day. So I can look respectable when I go out and feel confident speaking to other people. I honestly wore it just to feel like a person.
I know how it feels to put myself last. Whether you are a mother prioritizing your kids, a career woman prioritizing your job, a student prioritizing your studies it can be easy as women to put ourselves last. All the stress of life seems to play out on our faces, the tiredness, sleepless nights, days we skipped working out. Our health and overall wellness shows! This is where Younique is different to other makeup brands. Their products are free from harmful synthetics, parabens. They use natural ingredients and some science where nature doesn't have an alternative. Having highly sensitive skin these makeup products have been a dream. I was a fan of Bare Minerals and Mac before being introduced to Younique. But Younique's products blew those brands out of the water. The mineralize foundation from Mac was my go-to. Now I have replaced it with the Touch Mineral Foundation from Younique.
-It contains a higher concentration of mineral pigment for much better coverage.
-It feels light on your skin like your skin can breathe.
-It smells wonderful- yes it has a scent and it is gooood.
-It is completely non-sticky. My Mac Mineralize Foundation was very thick and sticky though at the time I didn't care I just wanted something to cover my face.
-It is made with natural ingredients and does not contain parabens.
